Don't Shoot the Messenger...
Received Saturday, Feb. 17th at 8:30PM:
Mr. Cris Davis,
If you could be so kind to post the attachment, I would be most appreciative and at your service. Based on the encouragement I have received to run for mayor, all I ask for is a fair and equal opportunity to serve my community, which you can help thru your web site by posting my letter to voters.
Thank your for your time and service on this matter.
Kindest regards,
Pat Ahumada

Speaking of Ethics...

Thinking out loud, I wonder if consistently (as in about 9 out of the last 22) failing to uphold both your oath and service to those who elected you might be considered a breach of ethics?
In the following pledge:
"I, Peter Zavaletta, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute (the duties of) the office of Navigation and Canal Commissioner - Place 1, of the Brownsville Navigation District of Cameron County in the State of Texas and will to the best of my ability preserve, protect and defend the constitution and laws of the United States and of this state. So help me God."where does it read that one reserves the right to take their ball and go home if matters don't go their way?

The (Even More) Digital Brownsville Herald
Amidst cries of "It's about time!", the Brownsville Herald has enabled a new feature, ePaper. A digital copy of the daily's content, and more importantly, layout (ads and all). Although there still appear to be some kinks to work out (browser incompatibilities/deficiencies), for the time being access is free.
How long before we're all reading the Herald like this?

BISD BOC/Facilities - February 1, 2007
BISD Bond Oversight/Facilities Committees Joint Meeting - February 1, 2007
Agenda.
Below, are the BISD Bond Oversight Committee's and the Board Facilities Committee's preliminary top 3 rankings of the five architectural firms asked to make presentations for construction of the planned high-school (above video).
| B.O.C. | BISD Facilites |
| 1. Gomez Mendez Saenz, Inc. | 1. PBK |
| 2. PBK | 2. Gignac |
| 3. Gignac | 3. Gomez Mendez Saenz, Inc. |
Interestingly, Superintendent Gonzalez thought the B.O.C. rankings were close. BOC Chaiman Mike Rodriguez replied that that wasn't necessarily the case. Granted, final rankings are subject to site visits of each firm's previous projects, but will the BISD Board have the stones to go against what the B.O.C. (a diverse collection of professionals from the community) recommends?
Stay tuned on this issue.
*On another note, looks like architectural firm Vitetta's infamous steak dinner has yet to pay-off. But never say never with this BISD Trustee Board.
